A tango that segues into a guajira, this is a lovely, romantic song from one of Puerto Rico's greatest Salsa groups. From their album Aqui estamos y ...!Verdad!.
2. "Culebra" - Grupo Niche
From Imaginacion, irresistable salsa from the coasts of Colombia.
3. "Mi Guajira " - L.A. Carpool
Los Angeles is a city that's more than half Latin and where carpooling is an idle rumor. But L.A. Carpool gets you where you're going with this english-language guajira from their first album, When Worlds Collide.
4. "La Vida es un Carnival" - Celia Cruz
Where I live, this song is so ubiquitous it's almost impossible not to have it on my mind. From 'The Queen of Salsa" Celia Cruz's Mi Vida es Cantar.
5. "Historia de un Amor" - Marisela
My favorite 'son' of the 1950's, this version is by the American-born cuban Marisela from her album Historia de un Amor.
6. "Santa Maria (del buen ayre)" - GoTan Project
If you've seen "Shall We Dance", then you've heard this tango. But you don't need the movie to enjoy it.
7. "Ahora Quien" - Marc Anthony
This is the hit single from both his new albums. I like the salsa version from Valio La Pena.
8. "Que Se Sepa " - Orquesta Tobaco y Ron
Cuban salsa at its finest, from the album by the same name.
9. "Amado Mio" - Pink Martini
The theme song from "Gilda", this classic gets a classic treatment from Pink Martini's all-latin Sympathique.
10. "Bilingual Girl" - Yerba Buena
Latin-fusion from Yerba Buena,one of NYC's hottest Latin funk groups. From their Island Life album.
